The secret to successfully controlling the public and the voting population is lowering expectations to the point where they are already met. For the U.S. government, politicians and the Federal Reserve Bank to reach the number of jobs needed to sustain current government expenditures and tax collection and the vast number of students graduating college every year and the great number of immigrants with will continue to come to the U.S. for a better life, realistically, we need at least 300,000 jobs created every month just to breakeven but when government officials and others of influence tout 200,000 jobs a month as a success they are simply dumbing down the public and the naïve media to expect less and at the same time think of 200,000 jobs a month as a success and that they are succeeding when, in fact, they are not.
Too many in government or at the Federal Reserve do not really think, in our lifetime, that there will not be wage stagnation or that we will have plenty of good paying jobs. Just the opposite is true and those at the top know this but cannot make the claim because the public will panic and revolt and this does no one any good.
The revolt will happen someday…and it will likely be a politician that promises everyone a good paying job even if it is working for the government. This promise will mean taking government expenditures, subsidies and foreign aid away from those who do not work for the government benefits they receive thus working more toward a society and government that essentially becomes one of if you do not work you do not eat form of government like we may have by the year 3000 anyway.
That same political savior, if he or she is truly a savior or messiah, may also promise to make everyone safe enough again like in the U.S. in the 1950s when most everyone could feel safe enough to be able to sleep at night with their doors and windows unlocked and be able to walk the streets at night or anywhere in the U.S. and feel relatively safe. This new age of public safety and security can only come about when most all the obvious bad, violent elements in our society will be eliminated.
When this political messiah is asked how this will be done the answer will be this leader, elected by the voters, will sit down with the top crime fighters in the land and whatever they all decide is needed to solve the obvious and most prevalent safety and security issues of our society will be put into practice no matter what. Of course, the solution will not be nice, it will be messy, ugly and it will have grave unintended consequences but at this point in our society the greater good will far outweigh the lesser evils. Someday, when the voting public has finally had enough then these may be among some of the most electable political promises.
