Every hotel room safe has a default code that sometimes is 0000 which will open the safe no matter what code you use to store your valuables. The hotel has to have a code to open the safe in case the persons who rent the rooms forget the code they used for the hotel room safe. So when you use the hotel room safe it may be a good idea to check and see if the default code is indeed 0000 and if it is you may want to
use the hotel safe at the front desk to store your valuables instead of the room safe.
Regardless, the hotel policy is that it is responsible for any valuables lost to theft from your room safe.
