THE DEVIL IN US
By
Glenna O’Connor
Open in black to the loud sound of 20 THUNDERING HORSE HOOVES running flat out, some whinnying.
1 EXT. UNDER BIG HORN MOUNTAIN, WYOMING - SUNSET 1
Cut to a hard, fierce bump and ride off of two young, female polo players grimacing, grunting, running flat out fighting for the ball like playing high goal polo, one of the players Anglo, an adorable but tough-as-nails, fiercely independent, athletic, 17 yr. old who looks ’more’ mature than her age, main character, YVETTE FURY, with Vette taking a neck shot for a goal then she slide stops her pony raising her mallet in jubilation having made the winning goal then gallops off the field toward a very small crowd of on-lookers and polo pony grooms.
Cut to POV shot over Vette’s pony’s head galloping toward her groom. Vette slide stops her pony, hops off and hands over her pony to her trusty groom, SEBI, a young hunk, Argentine in his mid-twenties.
VETTE
Hey! We finally won one!
SEBI
(Latin accent) Play hard or go home.
VETTE
Ride and walk away, live to ride another day. I’m hatin’ that I have to leave but just one more year then off to college.
SEBI
Don’t worry about your ponies. We’ll be on the road back to the farm with them tomorrow.
VETTE
So many thanks for takin’ care of ’em and ME too. You’re the best, Sebi.
Vette gives Sebi warm hug, they walk off the field in the sunset under Big Horn Mt.

2 INT. VETTE’S ENGLISH CLASS - DAY 2
15 yr old Vette runs into class, takes seat, opens book, black female ENGLISH TEACHER appears.
ENGLISH TEACHER
Yvette. See me after class please.
Clock shows time passing, bell rings, kids run out except Vette, teacher approaches.
ENGLISH TEACHER
Yvette. More disturbing than your tardiness lately, let’s discuss your latest writing assignment.
VETTE
Ma’am?
ENGLISH TEACHER
Everyone knows you’ve always been one of our best and brightest students. I know you’re quite the loner, but this essay, "The Devil In Us", well...
(slight laugh)
...not sure if it’s prolific or psychotic.
VETTE
It’s nothin’. I was just goofin’ on ya’.
ENGLISH TEACHER
I know you better than that, Yvette. Explain the part that says, "The night I was born the ghostly whine of the raging sky turned hellfire red. It snowed some. Put out arrows of my burning desire
so I’d feel no pain. The humming birds hum and butterflies scream so loud I’m losing my mind. Like pigs in a madhouse, the bird in the golden cage must fly or will
die. Everyone’s the same.
ENGLISH TEACHER
Surrounded by
corrupted ’show-offs.’ Attitudes of who rules who. Once you opt in you cannot opt out of the puzzle factory. Insanity is the new voodoo... the new normal. There is no future. Life is meaningless so why bother. It’s a beautiful
day." Yvette, is everything ok at home?
VETTE
I was just foolin’ about when I wrote this.
ENGLISH TEACHER
I’d like you to talk to the school counselor, Mrs...
Before the teacher can finish her sentence Vette jumps up and runs out of the class.
VETTE
Oh never mind, Mrs. Johnson. I’m fine.
3 INT. VETTE’S SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY 3
A school full of mostly black kids. Vette runs to locker where black friend, RIA, waits, CHAD, black, walks up to them.
CHAD
Say Vee...Ree. Whuz up?
VETTE & RIA
(in unison) Hiya.
Chad brushes against Vette’s backside, Vette not startled by the overt sexual move.
VETTE
Here? You cray? Be careful, Boo.
CHAD
I’m ALWAYS careful. I want it.
Chad tries to feel up Vette and gets to first base.
VETTE
(Giggles)
Stalker. You have to stop
the harassment spray shorts. Get a life.
The teacher suddenly appears. Chad goes one way, the girls go the opposite way.
TEACHER
Break it up. Get to class. NOW!
CHAD
Later girls.
VETTE
He’s getting to be a real horn dog.
RIA
He’s cute though. Harmless. Enjoy it.
VETTE
Harmless? Hey. When you have kids a man’s best work is still ahead of him but a woman’s best work?
Lay definitely in the past.
RIA
True. My mom tells me, "Don’t ruin your life."
VETTE
When it comes to men, women get stupid just to get attention. When you get addicted to something or someone all reason goes out the window.
4 EXT. VETTE AND RIA WALKING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL - DAY 4
RIA
(Singing)
"School’s out for summer", ...well, almost.
VETTE
I hate it here. We really outta blow this taco stand.
RIA
We’ll need money.
VETTE
Hmm. That’s a prob.
RIA
(Mumbles) Not if we hustle.
VETTE
(Laughs) Hustle?
RIA
My sis works a strip club in St. Louis and makes a ton in tips.
VETTE
We’re 15!
RIA
She’s 17. Duh. It’s called fake
I.D. Nobody cares if you play it cool.
(mumbles) Nobody cares.
VETTE
I feel like just runnin’ away.
RIA
Triple dog dare ya’.
VETTE
You know better than to dare me. Take it back.
RIA
You ’want’ your freedom.
VETTE
(Imitates Martin Luther King) "Free at last. Free at last. Thank God Almighty, we’re free at last."
Vette and Ria fist bump and hand slap closing the deal continue walking giggling.
5 INT. STRIP CLUB, BATHROOM/CHANGING ROOM - NIGHT 5
SUPERIMPOSE TITLE: "one year later - St. Louis"
DISSOLVE OUT
The bathroom/changing room looks like it smells of cheap perfume and cigarettes, through the smoke we see Vette, an underage stripper, sitting on the toilet in a doorless stall with other strippers walking back and forth trash talking.
VETTE
My doctor sayin’ I have syph. Man it burns... pisses me off!
Ria, also an underage stripper touching up her makeup in a mirror.
RIA
That’ll teach ’em to mess with you.
VETTE
Hell, I already had two dates
out back tonight, honey. Hey. They ’had’ to have me, so I gave it to ’em!
(Laughs)
They’ll be feelin’ the burn with all that ’goooood’ lovin’.
RIA
Nothin’ like cheap thrills, baby.
In unison the strippers tuned in to this conversation cackle, hoot and holler.
6 INT. STRIP CLUB - NIGHT 6
Loud music, smoke filled room, strippers working the room with Vette and Ria kissing MALE LAP DANCE CUSTOMER, he gropes Vette, she eyes up his wrist watch.

LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
Mmmmm, ok baby. You’re on.
RIA
What time is it now, baby?
Cut to lap dance customer’s diamond studded Rolex watch showing time.
VETTE
We get off at eleven tonight, honey. Weekday.
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
I’ll be here, baby
7 EXT. STRIP CLUB - NIGHT 7

VETTE
Baby, you made it.
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
Better believe it.
RIA
Follow us. It’s not far.
8 EXT. CHEAP MOTEL - NIGHT 8
Two cars enter motel parking lot. Vette, Ria and lap dance customer exit their cars.
9 INT. CHEAP MOTEL ROOM - NIGHT 9
Vette, with liquor in hand, Ria and lap dance customer enter room. Customer sits on bed. Vette silently proceeds to get completely naked as Ria mixes drinks.
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
Whoa. Love ’that’ look.
VETTE
I really love your ’type’. You’re so different from the typical guy that comes to the club.
Lap dance customer kisses Vette passionately. Ria mixing drinks, secretly slips substance in his drink, gives him the laced drink and sits on bed with both of them.
VETTE
I hope you don’t think it’s
too personal but...uhh...mmm...
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
What? Ask me anything, baby.
Vette and Ria take long sips on their drinks, and he does the same.
VETTE
So what’s your most kinky sexual fantasy?
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
Mmmmm. Whatever turns you on turns me on, baby.
RIA
I’ll drink to that.
They all touch glasses, the girls chug drinks down and so does he. Vette gets on top of him, legs straddled across his stomach and gives him long kiss.
LAP DANCE CUSTOMER
Wow. I feel....I......feeeel....
Vette kisses him passionately, sits up and he’s unconscious. Vette hops off, Ria walks over opens the front door and a big, burly, BLACK MALE enters.
In silence Vette gets dressed as black male strips unconscious customer of everything including his clothes putting it all into a suitcase and Vette, Ria and black male both exit scene through front door.
10 INT. RIA’S CAR - NIGHT 10
Ria with Vette driving fast, reckless to loud music jumping hills on pitch black 2-lane highway, sparks fly off bumper when it hits pavement, passing cars barely missing oncoming traffic, Vette rattled but looks used to Ria’s behavior.
RIA
(Devilish laugh)
Jump back! Here we come. Full blast. Burnin’ down the avenue in my shiny machine. NO FEAR, baby.
Vette not participating in the fun, Ria acting nonchalant in her doped up swagger.
RIA
(Aussie accent) Danger. Danger.
VETTE
Hope I survive another one of Mr. Toad’s wild rides.
RIA
Hey buzzkill, I know every nook ’n cranny in them thar them
hills, gurfriend. Don’t worry ’bout it. Runnin’ little hot tonight. Can barely see the road. Ain’t no stoppin’ nah.
VETTE
My God, you’re insane.
RIA
Know how I deal with the insanity?
Vette silent more concerned about what’s coming at them going fast over hills.
RIA
It’s like on TV. I just change the channels.
Vette still silent, unimpressed, getting concerned look over Ria’s behavior.
RIA
We gotta toughen you up, gur.
VETTE
You’re gonna get busted.
Ria thinks Vette is a wimp, Ria’s drugs doing the talking now, slurring words.
RIA
Hey! You’re on my team, bitch! I’m not on yours! It’s a speeding ticket, a tax to have some fun. Let ’em tap that ass and you can get outta anything way out here.
VETTE
I can’t get close to it.
RIA
How’s that workin’ for ya’?
VETTE
(getting ticked off at her carelessness)
Pathetic, self-destructive loser.
Song plays on radio "Kicks Are Getting Harder To Find", Ria goes up big hill (in slow-motion) Vette sees Ria’s eyes turn a devilish dark glowing red in the darkness.
RIA
(In slow-motion, low devilish voice)
Ever played chicken?
VETTE
No. And I don’t want to, Ria.
Ria, silent, smiles, flies over big hill on wrong side of road, blind to what’s coming from other side.
RIA
(Militaristic)
THERE’S ALWAYS ONE MORE THING YOU CAN DO!
(reverts to devilish low gutteral tone)
Hey ya’ll watch this.
VETTE
(Screams) DON’T DO IT!
Ria headed straight into oncoming headlights that swerve to avoid a collision.
RIA
Jesus Christ!
Ria avoids collision, speeds off, jumping back into correct lane of travel, eyes focused in rear view mirror in pitch black night.
VETTE
Soam’ bitch! You coulda killed us. Lousy coppers are gonna kick your butt.
RIA
Ants at a picnic. Let me worry ’bout dat!
VETTE
Good God Almighty, Ria. You ditin even know there was a car comin’ over that hill, did ya’?
RIA
(mumbles)
No.
VETTE
If I didn’t know better I’d swear you have a death wish.
Ria humbled and silent.
11 INT. RIA’S CAR DRIVES SLOW IN HOOD - SAME NIGHT 11
VETTE
Pretty spooky out here this late, Ree.
RIA
Man up. Hey. Know why the homeys wear their pants down to their knees out here?
VETTE
Look cool, right?
RIA
Naw unh unh. Street code for ’kiss my ass’, main...
(laughs)
...If they could get away with it they wouldn’t wear any underwear at all!
VETTE
That’s so dope, min.
Both laugh. Ria keeps looking for crack dealer, stops car, a black HOMEY runs to her window.
RIA
(Nervously) Got work?
HOMEY
How much you want, man?
RIA
Hundred bucks?
Homey’s hands inside driver side window fumbling around as he’s exchanging money for crack when cop car appears on sidestreet. Homey and Ria both take off. While Ria’s rolling up her window she sees she has the $100 worth of crack and still has her own $100.
RIA
(Smirks)
Wow. Rains on the just and injust.
Ria glances over at Vette
RIA
Hey. Justice means ’just us.’
VETTE
(Sighs)
I dunno... It’s your tree your sittin’ in it.
Ria continues driving but in no time a car pulls up alongside Ria and all she sees is a huge rock smashing her driver side window but her window does not break.
The other car screeches to a halt and cuts off Ria forcing Ria to stop and the homey, Ria just accidentally ripped off, jumps from the passenger side of car and from 20 feet away immediately fires six shots in rapid fire right at Ria’s face as he walks calmly toward Ria the whole time.
"POP POP POP POP POP POP."
Ria freezes in fear. The shooter, without hesitation walks up to Ria’s car door, yanks it open.
VETTE
God almighty!
Ria still frozen in fear.
HOMEY
Give it up!
RIA
Sure. Sure.
Ria hands over the $100 but the shooter sticks the gun right in Ria’s face.
HOMEY
Crack too! Next time won’t be firin’ blanks.
Shooter takes crack too, calmly walks away back to his car.
HOMEY
Payback’s a bitch... bitch.
Shooter gets in car and they drive away calmly, slowly. Vette sits there in shock but thankful to be alive.
VETTE
You’re incorrigible. I swear I think you may be the anti-Christ.
12 INT. RIA’S CAR DRIVING INTO HOOD - SAME NIGHT 12
Ria with Vette in car parks on dark street of ghetto houses with sounds of home boys smokin’, jokin’, sirens and gunshots in background, Ria & Vette un-phased.
RIA
I won’t be in here long, honey.
Vette stares blankly out car window at surroundings like she knows this place well.
VETTE
Do hurry. I mean I’m doin’ this for you.
RIA
I promise. I’ll only be a few ticks. C’mon. Gimme a smile, baby.
Vette silent.
VETTE
This is my sista’s old man.
ADDY
You mean pimp doncha’.
RIA
Hey. Chill. Other than you who’s going to take care of me? THIS is the only family I really have and they’re good
people...well... for the most part.
But don’t ’ever’ cross this Edgewater crew.
RIA
Ruthless. They’ll leave ya’ where they find ya’.
Vette sits silently staring out the car window.
RIA
Be right back. You know if anyone says anything to you out here do not make eye contact.
VETTE
I know, they’ll think I’m a flirt.
RIA
Keep to yourself, ok?
VETTE
(Mumbles)
Ok.
13 EXT. RIA’S CAR ON STREET - NIGHT 13
Ria grabs purse, exits car, heads up to house, knocks, big black man opens the door.
BIG D
(Smiles) Entra, Ria. Entra.
RIA
Hey Big D, got work?
Big D suspiciously looks past Ria toward the street seeing if anyone else around.
14 INT. HOUSE - NIGHT 14
Ria enters house.
BIG D
Hey. Not a bad car. We always gotch whutch ya’ wont, chica.
RIA
Not losin’ another car to you, dewd.
BIG D
Uh huh. No credit, Ria. (Yells)
BIG D YOU OWE ME MONEY!
Ria flashes $2000 in 100s.
BIG D
Alright den.
RIA
This should cover what I owe you plus whatever I score. You wouldn’t believe what just happened.
BIG D
You, Ria? Show would.
RIA
Dude just unloaded a 6-shooter in my face and robbed me of a hundred bucks. He was shootin’ blanks.
BIG D
(Laughs)
Dats whutcha git messin’ wit dose street homeys again.
RIA
Dats boolshit, mahn, boolshit.
BIG D
If you ditin have bad luck you’d have no luck at all.
(laughs) Follow me.
Ria and Big D disappear into back room.
15 INT. RIA’S CAR - NIGHT 15
Dissolving between shots of Vette sitting in different positions waiting pensively showing the passage of time, then a group of four homeys slowly walk by, see Vette alone, and surround car.
HOMEY GROUP
(Flirting)
Whoo weeee! Uh huh. Nice. Wanna party? We got whutch yo wont.
Group of four homeys decide to keep walking perhaps on a mission of another kind.
16 INT. HOUSE - NIGHT 16
Ria in dim lit, smoke filled room slurring words as if drinking/using lying flat on her back on a mattress, eyes closed, shirt off in bra, jeans unzipped.
RIA
Big D! ...
(Yells) BIG D!
BIG D
Baby, I’m right here.
Big D touches her breast, she’s familiar with his touch and satisfied now.
RIA
I gotta piss, man.
BIG D
Naw, baby. Batroom broke.
RIA
Kiddin’ me?
BIG D
Take it outside.
RIA
Bummer, man.
Ria crawls to her feet, puts jacket on over bra, stumbles outside.
17 EXT. OUT IN FRONT YARD OF HOUSE - NIGHT 17
Ria looks up in amazement at all the stars, does a 360 degree circle looking up.
RIA
Wow. A w e s o m e.
After viewing the awesome display of stars she pulls her pants down, squats & pees.
RIA
Ahhhhh.
Ria stands up pulls pants up, stumbles back to house but front door locked.
RIA
(Mumbles) What the fff?....
Ria turns door knob back and forth numerous times, even shakes door and it will not open, finally door cracks open, long 45 cal. gun barrel slowly comes through crack right in her face.
LATINO
(Latino accent) Wanna die, maing?
RIA
Who the ff?...
LATINO
DIGA ME! Comprende?
RIA
(Sobering reaction) Oh! Wrong house. Sorry.
Gun barrel retracts. Door slams shut. Ria stumbles to door next door, enters.
18 INT. RIA’S CAR - NIGHT 18
All is quiet, no sirens, no gunshots, Vette seen sitting still but impatiently tapping her forefinger on her purse looking up at the house contemplating going up to get Ria but then out of nowhere, a complete surprise attack, a lone wolf homey, big, black, scary dude with scars all over his face and CRACK MONSTER eyes slams against the passenger side window right next to Vette’s face terrifying her.
She finds herself eye to eye like the girl in the car and the T-Rex in Jurassic Park One, and neither one blinks. The lone crack monster breaks the stare, starts kissing, licking, drooling on the passenger side window right in Vette’s frozen face. He wants inside the locked car and starts physically rocking the car violently.
CRACK MONSTER
You gonna give me some, rat nah, woman. Open dis doe.
He gets a big rock to break the window, rears back, Vette screams a loud blood curdling scream, loud gunshot goes off. Crack monster’s eyes get huge, he plops face down on windshield like he’s hit... dry pukes on windshield then runs off. Vette totally freaks, exits car with no clue where the shot came from but does not care either.
19 EXT. RIA’S CAR - NIGHT 19
Vette runs up to house door. Amazingly, it’s unlocked. Vette enters dim lit living room and slams the door shut, her back to the door and stops in her tracks as a blood curdling scream comes from next room and Ria staggers in half naked, sees Vette, reaches out but limp and in shock, bleeding from a stomach wound. Big D follows Ria into room with wide open crazed eyes and kitchen knife in hand.
BIG D
Counterfeit! AGAIN ya’ giz me counterfeit fo all yo owe me! Dats duh last time... BITCH! Life’s cheap out here, mofo.
Big D plunges kitchen knife deep in Ria’s chest, life goes out of her, she slides down wall out of frame leaving streaks of blood on wall. Big D turns towards Vette.
VOICE THE GRIM REAPER (V.O.)
Death makes angels of us all and we grow wings where once we had shoulders.
20 EXT. HOUSE - NIGHT 20
Vette bolts out of house, falls flat on her face next to a lead pipe, she picks it up, starts running down the dark street when out of the shadows on each side of the street three to four homeys appear on each side of the street approaching Vette.
HOMEY STREET GUY
Yo gotch yo lead pipe. Yo lookin fuh uh fight!
Vette stops, immediately throws down the lead pipe as it clangs end over end before settling to the ground, then Vette’s adrenalin kicks in and she bolts right through the narrowing gap of homeys closing in on her from each side of the street barely escaping the homeys’ grasp and Vette disappears into the darkness.
MULTIPLE HOMEYS
(laughing)
Scared the hell outta dat cracker.
HOMEY
(Yells)
Better not come back up in here!
21 INT. VETTE’S PRIVATE SCHOOL, HALLWAY LOCKERS - DAY 21
SUPERIMPOSE TITLE: "Six Months Later - Seattle"
DISSOLVE OUT
Vette walks up to her locker and a bruiser of a girl on her cell phone, a shapely for her age Latina, with the name VIC on locker door and they make eye contact.
VIC
(Hangs up phone)
Hey. You’re the new kid here. Heard about you. Como se llama?
VETTE
Vette Fury
VIC
Habla espanol?
VETTE
Mas o menos.
VIC
I’m Victoria Crain. Most the kids here don’t speak espanol. I just use it to talk bad ’bout ’em. Make ’em feel inferior.
Both laugh.
VIC
Hey. I need a ride home, doable?
VETTE
(little hesitant) Umm... Sure. Ok.
Vette and Vic start walking and talking.
VIC
I heard you’re a rich kid. Whuz up wit dat?
VETTE
It’s not that simple.
VIC
So!
So what?
VETTE
VIC
Spill it, baby. I’m goin’ nowhere fast.
VETTE
Well, ran away from home at 15. Watched my best friend get stabbed to death. Mmm. Inherited a trust fund from my grandfather. Uhh.
That’s about it.
22 EXT. SCHOOL - DAY 22
Vic and Vette walking towards Vette’s car in parking lot.
VIC
Stabbed wow. I won’t press you on that one. Me. My momma’s a ho.
VETTE
Tell me how you really feel.
VIC
Well, an escort by trade.
VETTE
Puts food on the table.
VIC
Wow. You understand. Everybody thinks I’m a slut too. I don’t care. I’m not.
VETTE
Never underestimate the ignorance of the American public, gurfriend.
VIC
So why’d ya’ runaway?
VETTE
Sick ’n tired of being sick ’n tired. I mean, hey man, I was in South Carolina. No man’s land, man. There, if it’s in your backyard you can shoot it. All the intolerance and mind control games, gets old quick. Suspicious of
VETTE
everything and everyone from
the outside. Real killjoys. Freedom haters.
VIC
How’d ya’ end up at this podunk Christian school?
VETTE
Mmm. Basically it’s the closest school to the farm...uh, my house.
VIC
You live on a farm?
VETTE
Not really. I have a couple horses.
They arrive at Vette’s car, a shiny, black, pre-owned Porsche Cayenne S.
VIC
Whoa. Your car?
VETTE
(nonchalantly)
Yup.
VIC
Let me in for the thrill of my life. Wow. The ’S’. Will you get on it for me?
VETTE
I don’t do anything slow.
VIC
(Teasingly she bows to Vette) I’m honored. Let me kiss your ass.
Both LOL as they get inside the car. License plate says VETTE.
23 INT. VETTE’S CAR - DAY 23
Vette smiles and immediately peels out once she safely clears the school parking lot.
VIC
Hit it! Wooo Whoooo!
Vette and Vic racing on highway music up hair blowing, Vic turns down sound.
VIC
Know anything about men.
VETTE
(playing it cool) No. Not much.
VIC
I know everything.
VETTE
(coyly)
Ok.
VIC
All we have are our bodies, that’s all they want.
VETTE
Heard it all before.
VIC
(ignores Vette’s quip) Men abuse you. Cheat on you. Get attached and they dump you. Can’t ever trust ’em.
VETTE
Dewd tells me once that when he hires women for a job at his company he hires ’em by how they look walking away and that the not-so-cute girls always have to work harder.
Vic huffs like "exactly."
VIC
Men are slot machines, honey. Pull their levers ’til you hit the jackpot, then find another mark.
VETTE (playing along)
Mark?
VIC
Target. Sugar daddy. Seduction gets you what you want.
VETTE
I don’t NEED a man.
VIC
No sophisticated woman needs a man but seduction is my specialty.
Vette looks intrigued by the conversation and Vic knows it so she lays it on thick.
VIC
To get what you want, money, clothes, trips, love, sex, make him feel like he’s the most important thing in your life. When he talks, hang on every word. Act as if you’re interested in everything he does. And when he wants to
make love to you? Then......
Vic pauses to make sure she has Vette’s undivided attention.
VETTE
Then what?
VIC
Let him sexually do whatever he wants, short of hurting you. Always act like you love all his crazy sex fantasies and ideas as much as HE does and he’ll be hooked. When you gottem’ by the balls their
hearts and minds will follow.
VETTE
Wow.
VIC
And when you think you have
taken everything he has to give?... Dump him before he gets tired of you or you of him.
VETTE
Dump him?
VIC
Don’t go for a fixed, locked in thing. Tie into something nice with benefits and let it wear itself out. Men are good for performing and providing. Keep his stomach full and balls empty.
VETTE
(Laughs)
I’m impressed with your know-how.
VIC
I learned from the best, who knows all the tricks. Notorious. Toxic.
VETTE
Big time!
VIC
Young guys are ’takers’, selfish... insensitive... inexperienced. Older guys are givers. They always do more for ya’.
Vette unresponsive but taking it all in.
VIC
Men use and abuse for sex. (laughs)
Watch porno with a guy and he automatically thinks you’ll do a threesome with some other chick.
Vette huffs in disgust like ’that sucks’.
VIC
Once a man stops giving they are nothing. Pursue... seduce...
Possess... DISCARD. Got it?
VETTE
Got it.
VIC
There are no rules to get who or what you want. Use sex, charm... intimidation... manipulation... nerve...
confidence... Intimacy is power. Be relentless. Take advantage, gurfriend.
VETTE
And men always leave the toilet seat up.
Vic laughs.
VIC
And if you EVER... prefer ANYTHING else to having sex with yo man then he’s the wrong guy.
They both laugh.
24 INT. VETTE’S SMALL ONE BEDROOM FARMHOUSE - NIGHT 24
Vette walks down a hallway from her front door with UPS package in hand to her bedroom which is a complete mess by design with TV on Bloomberg Financial News channel and three computer screens loaded with charts and stocks blinking and constantly calculating.
Inside the UPS package Vette finds special gifts bequeathed to her from Granddad. The package includes only two things. One is what looks like a very old calendar rolled up with a CD attached to it and a flash drive. She unrolls the calendar and plays the CD. The second thing is an unfinished manuscript. The voice on the CD is that of her deceased Granddad Dave. As Granddad eerily speaks from the grave Vette hangs on every word.
GRANDDAD DAVE (V.O.)
(sounds like the voice of the General in Saving Private Ryan who read the letters President Lincoln sent to the mothers of boys killed in the Civil War)
Yvette, my love, you are the only one in the family with enough sense to understand and make use of what I have left you. The rolled up calendar has been passed down from generation to generation in
the McLaren family. The calendar was secretly assembled in 1905 and has been secretly circulated among Wall Street titans for generations. It’s called the Financial Time Table which is the blueprint that has accurately predicted every stock market crash since 1905 as well as all future crashes. Keep it a secret or the crash calculations can and will manipulated by outsiders making the calculations no longer accurate in the future.
The second thing I leave you is my unfinished manuscript on a flash drive called "1001 Unheard Of
GRANDDAD DAVE (V.O.)
Secrets," an ongoing pet project of mine since 1995. Enjoy. And goodbye my love.
Vette while the CD is playing loads up the flash drive to view the manuscript.
Cut to closeup of computer screen showing manuscript. "1001 Unheard Of Secrets".
Showing some of the book’s table of contents file titles: The Extinction of Man and the Year 3000
What Happens to Surplus Zoo Animals? The Lonely Heart of the Activist
Vette clicks on The Lonely Heart of The Activist and we see the file’s words on screen as Vette reads it out loud.
VETTE (O.S.)
Hmmm. The lonely heart of activism. Be a saint and make yourself and everyone around you miserable trying to make a forever imperfect world perfect in the name of a cause or issue. Do what you feel in your heart is right but don’t expect everyone around you to do the same. Hmm. Interesting.
25 INT. VETTE’S PRIVATE SCHOOL HALLWAY/LOCKERS - DAY 25
Female students, JOEY, tall thin, smart, tomboy, & ADIRA, not-so-smart or cute, both talking, giggling about random subjects and people, saunter up to Vette at her locker.
JOEY
Hey! New kid from Alabama!
VETTE
(Rolling her eyes) South Carolina.
JOEY
What’s the difference? You little hick.
Vette puts her hand on her forehead and makes the ’L’ sign for loser.
JOEY
Ruthless vaco. I like that!
ADDY
Hey, min, word is you aced the entrance exam here.
Vette nods yes like no big deal.
JOEY
That makes you future valedictorian.
ADDY
Because the rest of us are a bunch uh dumb asses.
All three kids laugh as they start down hallway toward lunchroom.
ADDY
Teachers say half the kids here smoke weed, man. Use pages from the Bible to roll blunts.
JOEY
Parents put us in here to protect us from the un-Godly, public screwal kids.
ADDY
School Joey not screwal. Don’t mess with her head....
(laughs)
..YET.
JOEY
(Sound of impending drama) Dun. Dun. Dun.
(Smirks)
Hey! We have gangs!
ADDY
Yeah the geeks against the nerds n’gamers.
JOEY
I’m Joey. This is Adira.
ADDY
I’m Addy or Ad. You know I hate Adira.
Addy groans in disapproval.
I’m...
VETTE
JOEY
Vette, short for Yvette.
ADDY
We know. Everyone knows you’re the new smart ass.
JOEY
Uh, smart kid.
VETTE
I already met Victoria and...
JOEY
Ooooo. Man-hater Vic.
ADDY
She met Victim.
VETTE
Victim?
JOEY
Yeah. That’s what everyone calls her. Classic man-hater. We think it’s just a defense mechanism cuz she puts out so easily.
ADDY
Word is just ask her and she’ll do anything you want, guy or girl. A real nympho.
VETTE
(mumbles) I hate rumors.
ADDY
Just sayin’.
Trio comes upon the lunchroom door as a teacher approaches too and opens door.
26 INT. SCHOOL LUNCHROOM - DAY 26
JOEY & ADDY
(In unison)
Hello Mrs. Druckenmueller.
MRS DRUCKENMUELLER
(Suspiciously) Hello girls.
Joey and Addy escort Vette to their lunch table, Joey leaves to buy lunch while Addy pulls out her homemade lunch sandwich and Vette pulls out a bag of chips.
ADDY
That’s all you eat?
VETTE
I only eat to sustain life. I don’t plan my life around eating.
(Smirks)
Someday I’m gonna save the planet from unwarranted consumption and commercialism.
ADDY
(Kiddingly) Hey. Me too!
VETTE
My thing will be the next big thing, bigger than self-centered, hey-look-at-me social media. My thing is contribute your own provocative, unheard of ideas
how to make things better like it was in the Sixties, min, without the capitalists’ greedy profit motive.
ADDY
1960s? Weren’t there dinosaurs back then?
VETTE
Are you presuming to trifle with me?
Say what?
ADDY
VETTE
The 60s, dewd, the age of free love. Sex was uninhibited and drugs were free. Everyone turned on everyone else ’til they started busting everyone, driving
drugs underground making them valuable.
ADDY
Wow. We missed out.
VETTE
Vote libertarian and illegal drugs will be free flowing again.
ADDY
Whoa. A crusader. We need that here for sure. You’ll like Joey she’s crusader-ISH.
(chuckles)
I’m just glad she’s not a saint. She rarely has the willpower to follow through on stuff... girls just wanna have fun ya’ know.
VETTE
Never look directly into the sun.
ADDY
But Momma...
ADDY & VETTE
(In unison sining the line)
...that’s where the fun is...
ADDY
(Laughs)
You know that ancient song too?
Vette glances around the lunchroom at all the different looking kids.
ADDY
Even though Joey is MY girlfriend, I’m ok with sharing. Just so ya’ know.
Vette distracted by sights and sounds in lunchroom then looks at Addy’s lunch.
VETTE
No. I’m good with just chips.
ADDY
(Perplexed)
I mean I’m good with sharing
Joey IF that’s what Joey wants. We have an open relationship. No strings attached. No boundaries.
Whatever makes the other one happy.
VETTE
Oh. Hey. Everybody get together and love one another.
ADDY
Absolutely. Friends with benefits, baby. Possession is NOT cool, dewd. Last thing we want is to think like our parents. No one married is really happy.
VETTE
Yeah. Millennials don’t care ’bout owning no crib in the burbs ’n punching out a bunch of rug rats. Make a life not a living. Where I came from it’s all about possessions. If it’s in your backyard you can shoot it.
ADDY
Real ’hassahs’. Know what a hassah is? It’s Yiddish for a pig that don’t fly straight. Wants more than he needs. Hey. My parents are French and I’ll teach you all the curse words. I cuss teachers all the time in French.
(laughs)
...and they’re clueless.
Vette and Addy laugh and do fist bump.
ADDY
You know European and Asian women are ok with their mates having mistresses and fuck buddies. I mean after years of being married who wants the same mister happy, pencil dick trying to get up your butt all the time. Besides, we all think about getting a little "strange" from time to time.
Vette doesn’t respond and Addy looks down at Vette’s unshaven legs.
ADDY
French girls don’t shave either.
VETTE
You two wanna come out to the farm after screwal?
ADDY
N’ check out the crib? Sure.
Joey returns with lunch tray of assorted school lunch choices and sits down.
JOEY
Another five bucks wasted.
ADDY
Every day. Hey. We’re invited out to Vette’s after screwal.
JOEY
Cool. Hmm. Let’s see. Looks like pressed rat passed off as, uhhh, God knows what.
VETTE
Pumped up with hormones
and antibiotics so it grows faster and fatter for bigger profits followed by extinction of mankind from a plague.
JOEY
Heavy, dewd. On second thought anybody want it?
(Addy & Vette shake heads no)
Looks like consumption of massive quantities of veggies ’n carbs today.
ADDY
A plague?
VETTE
Sure, antibiotic-resistant deadly disease from the overuse of antibiotics for profit in factory farmed animals for human consumption. Deadly mystery diseases the government downplays to prevent a panic.
JOEY
Government conspiracy, min. (laughs)
VETTE
And don’t even get me started on abusing animals in research experiments in the name of science
VETTE
"OR" organized religion. I do believe religious people have been seduced by something devilish in nature makin’ ’em self-righteous so they lose their humility then they divide into different religions and fight each other.
JOEY
Oh prophetic one. So how does it all end up?
ADDY
Yeah. The world and stuff.
VETTE
(Getting dramatic) Ok...Picture... the year 3000. Centuries of careless
consumption and fierce scarcity will replace wealth and sophistication leaving mankind with a feudal culture holding low expectations, living off the land with little charity and no government. Those that don’t work won’t eat. We have 5% of the earth’s population and use 25% of
the earth’s resources. Do the math.
JOEY
I hate math.
ADDY
I’m French.
VETTE
Do you know the ’true’ cost in the earth’s resources to get just one fast food hamburger out the door? Also they actually have everyone thinking that you’re reducing the carbon footprint by driving electric cars?
Joey and Addy mesmerized at this new kid’s vast knowledge.
JOEY
Not?
VETTE
Most all electricity still
comes from coal and even if in our lifetime we come up with clean coal we’ve already created an aspiring, 3rd World, middle class "monster" that will use up as much energy as we do now.
JOEY
Meaning?
ADDY
Hanging around you, Vee, is like being on a stair master.
VETTE
Meaning Third World countries want to be middle class, like us, needing more and more energy resources. Right now, every week a Third World country puts on-line a new coal plant burning dirty coal, EVERY week. Talk about outta control carbon footprint.
ADDY
T.m.i.
JOEY
So what’s next?
Vette gives long pause so her audience stays focused.
VETTE The...ULTIMATE...threat.......C..N..B..C.
ADDY
Isn’t that a TV network?
VETTE
Go back to contemplating your navel, Ad. CNBC. Cyber... nuclear... biological... chemical attacks. Catastrophic and unstoppable. Mo hashmala!
PRINT ON SCREEN: "Mo hashmala Arabic for ’No bullshit’"
DISSOLVE OUT
JOEY
Thought provoking, min.
VETTE
Technological innovation, dewd. It’s already out of the barn and can’t be stopped. We’ve already become techno-slaves to our cell phones. Techno-slavery chose you to be its slave and drain your
brain into a piece of tech. You didn’t choose it. Free will has been turned upside down, outside looking inside out.
JOEY
Unheard of.
ADDY
I’m exhausted.
JOEY
So what’s the answer, messiah?
All three half-heartedly laugh.
VETTE
Awareness. But we’re at the mercy of the commercial
profiteers. That’s why I’m going to change the "bomb throwing" blogosphere and self-centered world of social media from its
’selfie’-driven I, me,
my mentality, so anyone interested, can become aware AND contribute ideas for the common Good of the planet, baby. Someday I will make everyone who cares aware of how they eat, think and behave in a commercial, consumption culture.
JOEY
How in the hell do you do that?
VETTE
(Said slowly for effect) P h i l a n t h r o p y.
ADDY
Say what?
VETTE
I’ll find a conscientious billionaire that wants to jump from ’search’ to ’discovery’, someone that wants to give back to society through a NEW online, "non-profit", social media platform with NO commercial or political agenda and NO advertising.
ADDY
BIG ideas.
VETTE
No medals for trying. Gotta get it done. "OR".....
JOEY
(Slight laugh) Or what?
VETTE
Or I’ll climb the highest mountain and jump off and NOBODY gonna know.
JOEY
But dreams you’ll never see.
VETTE
Can’t you see? It’ll be the end of me. Goin’ home and ain’t never comin’ back.
JOEY
(Disillusioned)
I can’t find my way home.
ADDY
Waaay too deep for me.
VETTE
OR!!!!
JOEY
Or what?
VETTE
Or I’ll become a personal
injury attorney and change my name to Bentley "Lucky" McLaren who never lost a case.
All three LOL.
ADDY
Who wouldn’t want you on their case
with THAT ’tude and that name. Bentley?
VETTE
Sounds more believable than Ferrari or Lambo.
JOEY
I could see you doing tv ads.
ADDY
Yeah. And for your TV ad
’look’ wear a deerskin jacket with fringes then sit on a horse and do your personal injury sales pitch with a majestic scenic sunset and snowcapped mountain range in the background like you see in old cowboy movies.
VETTE
Interesting look. Anyway. The social networking giants today are no better than the scum sucking attorneys running America today...
JOEY
...social thieves. Muckin’ rich men.
VETTE
...thieves making self-centered values pervasive throughout society preying off and profiting from our built-in self-centered vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
ADDY
Hey. The movie Social Network
was based on stealing. Grand theft. It’s the American way.
VETTE
Stealing may be too strong a term. In sports, cheating is called getting a ’competitive
edge’. There’s more fraud in the world today than there ever has been and at no time in history has fraud ever worked.
ADDY
Hey, let’s ditch this rat hole.
VETTE
Gladly.
The trio quickly get up and exit the lunchroom
27 EXT. VETTE’S CAR - DAY 27
Vette heading home with music pounding. Joey & Addy, laughing, dancing,
28 INT. VETTE’S CAR -DAY 28
Vette slows in driveway, Sebi exercising a polo pony playing stick ’n ball sees Vette and canters over.
ADDY
Nice place.
JOEY
(Upon seeing Sebi) Hmmm.
SEBI
(Joking) Wanna mount up?
VETTE
(Sarcastic) Riiiight... not. Gotta go.
SEBI
Have fun.
Vette drives on very slowly up to very small farm house.
ADDY
(Comments on Sebi) Not bad. You doin’ ’im?
VETTE
He works for me.
ADDY
(Laughs)
I ‘bet’ he does.
JOEY
I’d do him.
ADDY
(Laughs)
Looks like he’s got everything a girl would want.
Vette parks at front door, sign on door says, "V-den Eden Enter At Own Risk".
29 INT. VETTE’S APARTMENT - DAY 29
The trio enter through the front door.
JOEY
I could get used to this real quick. Ever get laid in here?
VETTE
(coyly) Nunya.
JOEY
(sexually)
Are you experienced?
ADDY
(Laughs) I smell crap.
VETTE
Polo ponies. When you love horses it gets to be like perfume.
ADDY
Polo ponies?
Vette leads them to her room down a hallway past bathroom to Vette’s bedroom.
VETTE
I inherited my Granddad’s favorite ponies then found myself
getting into the action myself.
The trio reaches Vette’s bedroom which by design is a total disaster and mess, walls even ceiling plastered with nostalgia includes bed, couch, desk and chair, big screen TV and 3 computer screens flashing, blinking stock market data.
JOEY
Dare I ask, did granddaddy die?
VETTE
Had a wreck on the polo field. His pony somersaulted runnin’ flat out with him on it. Pony doing fine.
Granddad died doing what he loved.
ADDY
Aren’t you afraid to play?
VETTE
Live fast and dangerous, baby. Go the way you live. All of a sudden. That’s the way to go. Don’t drag it out.
JOEY
What was granddad’s name?
VETTE
David McLaren. An old money Wall Street titan that lived like a recluse in secrecy.
ADDY
What’s a titan?
VETTE
Titans I guess you could say are good at predicting stock market crashes. Daddy Dave used a 100 year old calendar-like thing passed down generation to generation that
accurately forecasts cyclical events, like booms ‘n busts, as sure as the sun rises and sets and the seasons
change.
JOEY
Wow. A crystal ball that forecasts the market.
ADDY
Everyone should know about it.
VETTE
Nah. Outsiders would only contaminate it so the titans keep it secret and right now they’re betting big on a huge stock market crash coming.
TV on in background, injury attorney ad ends, widget ad for
$19.95 begins.
VETTE
Hey. Know why you never
hire personal injury attorneys who advertise on TV?
JOEY
Mmmm.
VETTE
Because all you know ’for
sure’ about their skills is that they know how to make a TV commercial.
(Laughs)
And TV injury attorneys are notorious for ’settling’ out of court so you end up ’settling’ for less money than if you found a lawyer that knows what the inside of a courtroom looks like.
JOEY
Attorneys, like doctors, no matter if they graduate first or last in their class, they’re still called doctor.
Now TV in background says, "Order now get something FREE, a
$60 value"
VETTE
Question? So if it’s a $60 value FREE then what’s the TRUE value of what they’re giving away?
ADDY
Hmm, maybe 20 bucks?
JOEY
Probably more like 5 bucks, right?
VETTE
(Makes buzzer noise) Nnnnnnh! If it’s free it has no value. A thing is only worth what someone will give you for it.
ADDY
I don’t get it.
JOEY
I’m buyin’ it. It may have intrinsic value but no dollar value because it’s FREE.
ADDY
How’d you figure that out, Vee?
VETTE
Never assume anything. Ads use pecuniary logic. They say
something as if it’s true but not really meant to be believed.
JOEY
Sounds crooked as a dog’s hind leg. Ungodly.
ADDY
Believe in God, Vee?
VETTE
I don’t go around spewing Bible verses to back up narrow minded notions. Go try to reason with the unreasonable and you just end up opposite banks along the same stream. But to think that life all happens coincidentally by
chance doesn’t add up. The initial spark that creates the sparks that create life comes from a Creator.
JOEY
I never bought into the man
from ape thing. You guys may have evolved from apes...
(laughs)
...but I did not, for sure.
VETTE
(jumps up)
Let’s go meet the rest of my loved ones.
ADDY
The rest of your family? Where do they stay?
30 EXT. VETTE’S BARN - DAY 30
They slowly walk out of Vette’s barn. Vette notices a diamond Addy wears around her neck on rawhide rope.
VETTE
Nice diamond. Sundance catalog?
ADDY
Parents.
VETTE
Yo ’rents have good taste.
ADDY
They know I like natural.
Two high energy Jack Russells come out of nowhere to greet them seeking action and adventure.
VETTE
Oh. Meet the lords of the manor. (makes sound of owl)
Hooo... and
(whispers shush sound) Shhhhh.
Wait.
JOEY
(mimics the owl sound and shush whisper)
Hoooooo... Shhhhhh (laughs)
Noises? Their names are noises?
ADDY
Nobody does that! (laughs)
You’re cray.
VETTE
Hey. Hypothetical for ya’. You’re out somewhere and someone gets the drop on ya’ and you cannot escape and they say, "Give up the diamond or car or whatever." Whaddya do?
ADDY
I push ’em away and run.
VETTE
(Makes buzzer sound like wrong answer)
VETTE
Nnnnnnn. Never buck the jack, babe. Resist, or even hesitate, and risk getting shot cuz you ’dissed’ the bad guy. You hear all the time victims say, "Hey, I gave it up and got shot anyway." Well, guess what? They hesitated.
JOEY
So just give it up?
VETTE
Absolutely and without ’any’ hesitation if you’re smart. Now I want you to meet the rest of the family.
31 INT. 10 STALL BARN - DAY 31
Vette grabs a few carrots in the fridge as all three saunter over to pony stalls.
VETTE
This...is Boeing, like the jet, because she’s fast and sure... never stumbles. I have to trust my ponies with my life, limb and fortune. Here. Give her a carrot.
ADDY
No. I’m good.
VETTE
C’mon. Live dangerously. Just make sure you give it to her from the palm of your hand. I triple dog dare ’ya.
JOEY
Dare me and I’ll do anything.
VETTE
(Laughs)
Wow. You’re as pathetic as I am.
Joey feeds the carrot to Boeing, (giggles) then they saunter over to another stall.
VETTE
Now this....THIS beauty is...Acura Aiken. She does e v e r y t h i n g for me to perfection.
ADDY
A perfect horse?
Vette gets close gazes long and deep into mare’s eyes in silence. Joey impressed with Vette’s sensitivity. Vette finally breaks the gaze then runs her hands down mare’s flank.
VETTE
Look at those lines. You’ll never see a more beautiful creature built to play polo.
JOEY
Hmm. They love your voice.
VETTE
(Slight laugh)
She actually runs ’to’ the
ball without having to ask her. Man oh man oh man.
Vette can’t take eyes off mare, Joey can’t take eyes off Vette. They go to final stall.
VETTE
Here’s Wimbley. Never been hurt and bomb proof. I should clone her.
ADDY
Wow, cloning?
VETTE
Si. Cloning re-creates the same horse from the original ’including’ the same personality too. Believe that?
JOEY
Personality too? Do they clone racehorses?
VETTE
No. No cloning. Horseracing is a pure sport for “big bucks”.
(big bucks said in Latin accent)
No one wants to see 15 Secretariats racing each other, makes no sense.
JOEY
So why only girl horses?
VETTE
Women do it better, I mean mares. (laughs)
Women are better suited than
men for most everything, other than uh, well...
ADDY
We’re not naïve, Vee.
All laugh and they exit barn.
32 EXT. VETTE’S POOL AREA NEAR HOUSE - DAY 32
Sebi gets out of heated pool, Vette, Joey, Addy approach pool area.
VETTE
Joey... Addy meet Sebastian.
JOEY AND ADDY
Hi. Nice to meet you.
SEBI
Hey girls. Hope you come more often.
Joey nods at Addy at the sexual connotation then they check out Sebi bending over.
ADDY
Great scenery you have here, Vee.
SEBI
Glad you like it. Friends of Vette’s are friends of mine.
JOEY
Love the...uh, spread.
SEBI
Always free polo for beginners... if interested that is.
Oblivious, Sebi bends over again to pick up 10 foot long pole pool brush.
ADDY
(Smirks)
We’re ’always’ interested.
JOEY
’Love’ it.
Joey and Addy laugh, Sebi brushing pool, muscles flex, Vette interrupts the ogling.
VETTE
(Smiling)
Hey, hey, hey. Don’t take advantage of Sebi’s generosity. We’ll never get out of here.
JOEY
Leave?
ADDY
This great view?
Vette looking intently at Joey and Addy.
VETTE
(Smiling)
Si! Show’s over for today. Let’s blow this joint.
ADDY
Yes. YES.
Let’s blow. Vette, Joey, Addy LOL
JOEY
SEBI
Nice meeting you girls. Come again.
JOEY Oh, we WILL...
(Mumbles)
...come.
Have fun.
SEBI
Like any Latino, Sebi turns to watch the girls walk away, nods head in approval.
33 INT. VETTE’S CAR - SUNSET 33
VETTE
(Smiling)
Could you guys be any more obvious back there?
JOEY
(Sexually) Back there?
ADDY
(Giggles)
Remember, girls just wanna have fun.
VETTE
(Smirks) Pathetic. Both of you, incorrigible.
JOEY
You never mentioned he was hot.
VETTE
Selfish I guess.
JOEY
(Joking)
Hey. Never hold out on us, the code is share everything.
ADDY
Yessssss.
VETTE
He was a chick magnet growing up in Argentina, shy, naïve. Girls chased him, thought he looked like some famous hunk down there.
ADDY
He stays in shape. So much energy.
VETTE
He said the doctor told him he has high ’T’. I said what’s that? He said, "You don’t wanna know." I looked it up.
(laughs)
High testosterone means high sex drive. He said is dad was
a womanizer so Latin charm’s in his DNA.
JOEY
I want a free lesson.
Both Vette and Addy look inquisitive.
JOEY
Well...he ’said’ free lessons.
VETTE
(Laughs)
I asked him, why so active? Know what he said?........."I wanna look good naked." He said a girl told him once, he looks better with his clothes off.
ADDY
How do ya’ know when you’re madly in love?
VETTE
Where’d that come from?
ADDY
Oh. Just thinkin’ out loud.
JOEY
Well. Mad love is loving someone no matter what they do or how they feel about you and you in no way obligate them to return the love.
Both Joey and Addy laugh, Vette speeds up, music up and all three rock out.
INT. SEATTLE AQUARIUM - DAY
Vette, Joey and Addy are at Seattle Aquarium.
VETTE
Not a ’bad’ idea comin’ here but gotta warn ya’...
ADDY
Uh oh.
JOEY
I know what’s coming. She already warned me.
ADDY
(Laughs)
Well, thanks for nothing, Joey.
All three put their faces close up to the aquarium’s glass.
VETTE
Tank’s so crowded.
JOEY
’Big’ time.
ADDY
Joey. Don’t incite.
VETTE
And they call all this educating the kids, holding
wildlife in captivity on display in cages of concrete, nothing more than chlorinated swimming pools full of wildlife for human entertainment and profit.
ADDY
So cynical.
VETTE
(Big smile)
Millennials are tuned in. A cynic just tries to make things better, Ad.
Vette and Joey look at each other, marvel and smile.
VETTE
What’s the life expectancy of marine life swimming around in an overcrowded tank of chlorinated water? They can’t even grow to full maturity and they die all the time locked up in there. They just keep replenishing their depleted
stock over and over....Pathetic.
Joey and Addy in awe of Vette’s awareness.
VETTE
Let’s hit the zoo before I puke. That’s where the real tragedy lies.
JOEY
I’m lovin’ it.
34 EXT. ZOO - LION EXHIBIT - DAY 34
VETTE
Wow. Bein’ here makes me feel like I’m raping the planet. God is watchin’. Dante said there’s a special place in hell for those who abuse animals. Free will is anything but free here.
ADDY
Dante who?
JOEY
Tell Addy what you told me about the big business of zoos.
Addy looks puzzled as Joey stands back and lets a smug Vette unload on Addy.
VETTE
Well... zoos were originated for the specific purpose of saving and breeding endangered species of wildlife so they could turn
’em loose back into the wild, but...
Vette waits for Addy to take the bait and she does as Joey watches Addy’s reactions.
ADDY
But... what?
VETTE
(Smirks)
...but few if any endangered species were ever released back into the wild. They turned to breeding wild animals
and circulating them to other zoos for profit, selling tickets to the unsuspecting public under the guise of educating the kids
about endangered wildlife.
ADDY
Interesting to say the least.
VETTE
To care for just 2 elephants in a zoo in captivity in America equals a WHOLE year’s budget to fund a 100,000 acre wildlife sanctuary in Africa?
ADDY
You kiddin’ me?
VETTE
But no zoo can make money funding a wildlife refuge in Africa.
Joey continues taking it all in while watching Addy who tries to change the subject.
ADDY
Look. They have elephant rides, Joey.
Joey cringes, knows what will come next from Vette with that comment from Addy.
VETTE
They have to break the
elephant’s spirit so they can even be ridden.
ADDY
I can’t imagine that.
VETTE
Si. Young elephants are torn away from their mothers, tied down then beaten and deprived ’til their spirits are broken and they submit to their human masters.
ADDY
I feel sick.
JOEY
Money-grubbing capitalists.
VETTE
Hey. Ask a zoo dude where their surplus zoo animals go? You don’t wanna know.
JOEY
(Baits Vette) I wanna know.
VETTE
Surplus zoo animals go to auction and end up in cages on canned hunt farms in Florida and Texas so derelict weekend hunters can walk right up and shoot their trophy at point blank range then brag how they bagged the exotic big game on some dangerous safari in Africa.
ADDY
Very depressing. Please no more Vette.
VETTE
I saw a film where a weekend bow hunter was such a bad shot that after 20 shots the surplus zoo animal was still not dead, standing there like a pin cushion full of arrows, crying, bellowing, swaying back ’n forth in
horrific pain ’til the farm owner shot the trophy at point blank range to put the exotic out of its misery.
I’m toast.
ADDY
Vette turns, smiles at Joey proud, then walks away with Addy and Joey in tow.
VETTE
Never assume anything. I’m done. I enjoyed myself today.
JOEY
The devil you know... is better than the devil you don’t know.
35 INT. PORSCHE DEALER - DAY 35
Vette and Joey walking into Porsche dealership.
JOEY
I love Porsches but never had an excuse to even walk into a
dealership much less know someone actually looking to buy one.
VETTE
Too bad Addy couldn’t make it
but you’re the one I really wanted here.
JOEY
Pleasure’s all mine, Vette.
Vette shows Joey her dream car then spaces out running her hands over yellow 911 Turbo and starts daydreaming but listening to Joey in a distracted way.
VETTE
Ooooooooo. My dream car.
36 INT./EXT. QUICK SHOTS VETTE’S DAYDREAMING - DAY/NIGHT 36
Vette’s daydreaming shots: Quick closeup of license plate says, "SUX2BU" on a yellow Porsche 911 Turbo as it peels out then quick cutting shots showing Vette at the wheel racing down the mountainside hair blowing, music pounding, picking up hunk boyfriend, racing/beating off the line at street light a Ferrari and the driver looks like cross between models Fabio and Jason Baca, then ending up at night making out in the Porsche with her boyfriend at "Lovers Hilltop" overlooking scenic cityscape.
JOEY (O.S.)
(off camera as Vette daydreams)
You have expensive taste. No wonder you play the stock market.
VETTE
(Distracted) Sure do.
JOEY (O.S.)
My dad is a market day trader but pretty much a one trick
pony. He grew up playing poker then played casino high stakes poker then graduated to stock market day trading. Ever heard the phrase, "Don’t pitch a bitch?"
VETTE
Uh...no.
JOEY (O.S.)
Sell stocks to women and, God forbid, if the price of the stock
JOEY (O.S.)
goes down she’ll call every day asking if she should sell. But if the price of the stock goes up she’ll call every ten minutes!
Vette gives fake laugh not really tuned in to the conversation but daydreaming instead.
VETTE
(Distracted) I’m game.
JOEY (O.S.)
Why do I get the feeling you’re not really here with me right now.
Anyway, my dad does momentum trading, watching stocks moving up or down 5 to 10 per cent in a day. He buys ’x’ shares of a momentum stock for sixty grand and hopefully sells it the same day for a quick two and a quarter per cent profit which gives him a thousand dollar profit after taxes. He always
says it only matters how much you make when you’re right versus how much you lose when you’re wrong.
Vette snaps out of her daydream trance and they both head toward the front door exit.
37 INT. VETTE’S SCHOOL TEACHERS’ BREAKROOM - DAY 37
Teachers huddle around TV listening to news, teachers voicing their concerns.
VARIOUS VOICES "Stock
market crashing." "Governments worldwide collapsing under weight of their own debt printing money without sufficient collateral." "Gold going to $10,000 an ounce." "Only gold, silver, rich farmland and real estate with
re-sale value the only safe havens to own." "Banks no longer paying interest on deposits and now charging depositors fees to keep ’your’ money in ’their’ banks." "Pension funds bankrupt no money for retirement". "Millions losing
VARIOUS VOICES
jobs...homes." "Only cash rich companies to survive.""Huge tax increases and inflation coming...Kids and grandkids left to pay parents and grandparents government debt."
38 EXT. SCHOOL – VETTE WALKING TO CAR – DAY - 38
Frantic Joey and Addy run to a calm Vette, with frowning kids running all directions indicative of the chaos at hand.
JOEY
Oh chosen one. Your prediction was spot on.
ADDY
The world is going down the tubes. There is no future.
VETTE
Or to glory. Depends. Calm down. No
one ever profited from panicking during chaos. Only during chaos can you get good bargains.
ADDY
They should’ve warned us, it affects everyone.
VETTE
What and start a panic? No
way. Anyway for the smart money the streets are now being paved with gold while everyone else is calling it piss.
JOEY
You know... at times you come across so dismissive and superior.
VETTE
(Smiles)
I don’t take prisoners.
ADDY
We still going to the club this weekend for your 18th birthday in a few weeks?
VETTE
Of course the club’s still on. Wouldn’t miss it.
JOEY
Vette. Got our i.d.’s.
ADDY
Oui.
VETTE
(laughs)
Great! And yes, the world as we knew it will be changed for the rest of our meaningless, miserable, little lives.
JOEY
So ’splain it like I’m a 7 year old.
VETTE
Well, our so-called leaders in charge chose to trust the UNfamiliar as if it’s familiar and authoritative scamming themselves into thinking it’s
trustworthy while ignoring the risks and the ugly truth. Guess you could say they couldn’t take their eyes off the pinstripes and bet on the uniform. Why? Because
they didn’t look at what was really going on.
JOEY
All the stuff you pound into us and you never mentioned world financial collapse?
VETTE
Hey gur, you only paid the lookin’ price, lessons are extra. Anyway, you never asked.
ADDY
(Laughs) How would us dumb asses ’ever’ know what to ask?
VETTE
Your excuses are your own. When Socrates taught class he never said
VETTE
a word ’til students asked questions. No questions ...nothing learned. Anyway, past and
present voters created the Deep State shadow government we have now.
ADDY
Deep what?
VETTE
Voters let government control us and control the money through the secret bank called the Federal Reserve. It’s even a secret how votes are counted in elections.
Hell, free speech these days has become free speech only ’IF’ it’s acceptable speech.
JOEY
This is getting way too deep.
ADDY
Waaay.
VETTE
Try this on for size. Central banks worldwide printed tons of worthless money then bought U.S. stocks with it, artificially propping up the stock market hoping the world economy would improve and it did not. The printing
presses had to stop eventually or have runaway inflation which ended in the stock market crashing hard.
We’ve become a
stable-fed citizenry, living beyond all our means cradle to grave, baby, dependent on never ending credit and everything else from our Deep State government masters to keep us going.
JOEY
Masters?
VETTE
Yeah. The career politicians and the short-sighted magicians at the Federal Reserve Bank and the
VETTE
so-called academic, intellectual
experts, all the elitists that we have for decades bowed down to show us the
way. They did not grow the economy as promised then through their
short-sighted financial engineering taxed, spent and printed way too much money, taking on too much debt backed by nothing more than the now worthless, good faith of the government. It was a bankrupt house of cards and when it caved it was a domino effect worldwide happening virtually overnight
taking everything down with it. The chickens finally came home to roost. The man in the borrowed suit just bought a new car. Never underestimate the other guy’s greed. (Mumbles) ...We
desperately need term limits for politicians.
ADDY
Misguided fools. It’s ludicrous.
JOEY
Why even vote? You just encourage them. So who’s minding the store?
VETTE
BOOM!!!...No one. We’re all on our own now. The world’s
so-called leadership has run into something UNprecedented that they don’t know how to handle knowing in the end taxpayers will bail out their mistakes and when any government’s money system implodes, it’s us working class fools that lose most everything, including earning power, and to
survive, we’ll need good skills to earn and put food on the table.
Unskilled workers don’t have a chance.
ADDY
Skills at our age, yeah riiiight.
JOEY
Unless you inherit, most people still live and die in the same socio-economic class they were born in.
39 INT./EXT. NEWS HEADLINES & REPORTS - DAY/NIGHT 39
Cut to news reporters’ hand wringing, panicky stories and interviews exclaiming people have lost everything, reports of suicides people jumping from tall building windows, jumping in front of subway trains, reports of investors killing their stock brokers due to catastrophic losses of wealth.
VOICEOVER ANNOUNCER (V.O.)
(speaking calmly)
In fact, no one jumped out of windows or committed suicide during the worldwide economic collapse.
The smart money knew that ONCE all the massive selling of stocks settled down AFTER the collapse, this actually indicated a BUY SIGNAL and the smart money will make huge windfall profits buying stocks cheap. All the collapse did was finally bring stock prices down to TRUE VALUE. The happy
ending for the smart money is stock prices will finally be of fair value for future generations
and FINALLY world currencies will be on solid ground once again backed by gold instead of the not-so-good faith of the government.
40 INT. VETTE’S CAR - DAY 40
Vette flying down the highway with her friends on board.
VETTE
Sometimes... all we working fools have are mucked up, poisonous choices... Truth is like poetry...and we ALL hate poetry. A n y w a y...the next revolution will be a tax revolt. The last revolution was for our freedom in 1776. The rich will benefit from
VETTE
the great transfer of wealth taking place today. They’ll buy up everything now at bargain basement, bankrupted prices and us
middle class kids will end up paying higher prices for everything and pay most of our future income in taxes, European style, ’til there’s no real incentive to work hard and achieve because the government ends up taking most of our hard earned money.
JOEY
I can’t get over how you know all this stuff.
VETTE
(Smiles)
I go to great lengths to think outside ’group think’.
ADDY
Group what?
VETTE
Not letting the group spoon feed me what to believe. Group think always convinces you about that which is questionable to push their own agenda and control your mind.
ADDY
That’s heavy duty, dewd.
VETTE
Human nature is we don’t take time to think things through. It’s easier to take the path of least resistance.
JOEY
I feel so inadequate.
Vette breaks tension with laugh from movie Wonderland after robbing Eddie Nash.
VETTE
Whoo hooooooooo!
VETTE
Let’s hit it!
41 INT. CLUB - NIGHT 41
Like movie Social Network club scene: Addy, Joey, Vette uninhibited sexual dancing.
JOEY
(Focused on Addy’s rear) Shake it baby shake it, shake it baby shake it! Love my baby.
Joey grinds Addy’s rear as she gyrates, Vette grinds them both.
JOEY
Baby plee’ don’t go! Neva’ gone let you go!
ADDY
Do anything you want!
JOEY
(Joey howls)
Oh bay bay bay bay bay bee! Yeahhhhhhhh!
Vette & Addy exuberant LOL at Joey’s crazy antics, Joey grinds both girls sexually.
JOEY
Look out baby! ...Comin’ to gitch ya’ one mo time! ... GOIN’ HOME!
42 EXT. CLUB SCENE PARKING LOT - NIGHT 42
Trio walks to car drained, wasted, disheveled, hang on each other, Joey in center.
43 INT. VETTE’S CAR - NIGHT 43
Trio silently piling into car to crash and burn, lay seats back before the drive home.
VETTE
I’m toast, min, burned out. Let’s wait before we hit it.
JOEY
(Laid back eyes closed) Ad, we need to hook up Vee.
ADDY
(Laid back eyes closed) Ummm. Can’t wait.
VETTE
(Laid back eyes closed) Let me worry about that.
JOEY
So what’s your type, Vee’?
VETTE
Nunya.
ADDY
Oh go on, humor her, boo.
VETTE
Type? Mmm, someone that can perform......
ADDY
oooOOO
VETTE
...AND provide.
ADDY
Love it. Now we’re talking.
JOEY
Yeah, but young, old, short, tall, c’mon, gimme something gurfriend.
VETTE
Hmm. I think...... maybe..I like older guys.
ADDY
ooooOOOOO. Bad girl!
JOEY
(in deep voice) Tabooooooo
Trio LOL gets their second wind turned on now, energized by the conversation.
JOEY
Careful, gur. You’re still jail bait. If you go old never trust telling a grownup.
ADDY
Yeah. They’ll crucify you
like you’re full of the devil or something.
JOEY
The adults will shame you, chica, make you feel guilty as hell.
Trio LOL
VETTE
(Smirks)
Society’s mores’ suck fat ass, giant rhinoceros dick.
VETTE
Hey. The trick dealing with adults?...is the ’sell’. Always act..’AS IF’.
ADDY
Details.
JOEY
(In French) Yes.
VETTE
Act ’as if’ is the oldest trick in the book going back to the Plato against the Sophists. A sophisticate will act as if they ’know’ everything and they’ll tell you whatever they think it will take to be believed to make a sale or come out on top or win the argument. The end justifies the means. Sometimes it’s easier livin’ the lie.
JOEY
I know lots of sophisticates then.
VETTE
Selling grownups? Telling is not selling. You gotta make ’em THINK they KNOW what you’re thinking, even though they don’t. It makes ’em feel comfortable and they have to feel comfortable before
they will buy into whatever it is that you’re selling. But to close the deal...you never open
your mouth and say ANYTHING...’til you KNOW..what the shot is...what they’re thinking. If you DON’T know what the shot is BEFORE you start your pitch to them then you’ll blow the close, the sell.
ADDY
You little devil
VETTE
Selling the adults is...ALWAYS be closing. Either you sell them or they sell you on why they’re not buying it. Either way a sale is made. It’s you or them. The devil’s always in the details.
JOEY
Intense wheeling and dealing, man.
Addy motions her hand over her head with whoosh sound like way over my head.
Shew.
ADDY
VETTE
Salesmanship. Goes back 2000 years. Hey. Did you know we’re just a couple elections away from the millennials having more votes than the baby boomers?
JOEY
Wow, man.
ADDY
And that means?
VETTE
That’s huge, gur! It means we vote in the pleasures that other
VETTE
cultures already enjoy. Hey. Arabs can have lots of wives. So, what’s wrong with three husbands one wife? Or three wives one husband?... Or three wives?
JOEY
Hey, what about threesomes?
VETTE
(Laughs) Threesomes?
JOEY
Absolutely. We’ve been made slaves, puppets to ancient morality codes, man. Threesomes. Whatever man. No limits. No strings. So I can do what I want.
ADDY
People used to marry 13 and 14 year olds all the time. Did laws change so you can’t do that anymore?
VETTE
Who knows? Maybe it’s moral law and not even legal law. No clue.
ADDY
Nothing ’wrong’ marrying young, if that’s yo’ thang, man.
JOEY
It’s society’s chains on your mind, min, holding everyone down, making us live in fear. What’s that about?
VETTE
Listen to us!
(LOL)
We’re already voting in polygamy, baby! You know they already predicted legalized polygamy would follow the acceptance of legalized gay marriage being treated as normal and acceptable.
ADDY
Hmmm. Wonder what naughtiness comes after polygamy?
VETTE
No speed limits on the interstate. Legalized drugs.
Legalized prostitution. Legalized underage sex, minors with minors. Legalized bestiality... necrophilia...
JOEY
WOOOOOOO HOOOO ! Watch out
when millennials take over, baby!
ADDY
The boomers will have seizures in their wheelchairs!
All three LOL.
JOEY
Narrow minded intolerant bastards.
VETTE
And they think gay marriage and transgender bathrooms was a big deal. They tain’t seen nuttin’ yet.
JOEY
So Vette wants an older lover, huh? They say oldsters aren’t as selfish as youngsters.
VETTE
Older lovers aren’t selfish and know more what to do to make you feel good. It’s not as much about them as it is about you.
ADDY
Vette wants to get b u s y.
VETTE
Ya’ know, college guys like the soche chicks because they’re easy lays.
Soche?
ADDY
VETTE
Sociology majors. In soche you study cultural taboos.
ADDY
Mmmmm. Soche chicks get it.
JOEY
They see through all society’s bull crap inhibitions.
VETTE
Yeah. And its stranglehold limits.
JOEY
No limits, baby.
VETTE
And don’t worry about
borrowing money from the government for college. If America goes more and more socialist, eventually they won’t even make you pay back college loans because the
grown-ups have mucked up the economy so much that most college kids can’t even get good enough jobs to get out and live on their own to pay back the lousy college loans.
ADDY
I heard they ’make’ you pay back what you borrow for college.
JOEY
Yeah, and they’ll even take it out of your paycheck too to get paid back.
VETTE
Yeah, the deal is they garnish wages even your social security check to get paid and they won’t let you declare bankruptcy.
JOEY
Mercy.
ADDY
Hurt me.
VETTE
No. That’s actually good because it creates a loophole they put in for you so if you can never pay it off then you don’t have to and they can never collect.
Joey and Addy look at each other like, "We don’t get it."
VETTE
Here’s the trick. When it’s time to start paying off your guhment
college loan but if you’re never R E A L L Y making enough money to
make the payments they want, then just ’make sure’ you pay ’em something every month and NEVER miss a monthly payment, even if it’s just 5 bucks a month. Then, legally, no matter how hard they try to scare you to pay more, they can’t come after you to pay
what you don’t have AND if you NEVER missed a payment of some kind, that satisfies the loan and guess what?
JOEY
I’m all ears.
ADDY
(In French)
Yes.
VETTE
If you never miss a monthly payment of some kind for 20 to 30 years they will actually write the loan off their books, declare the loan satisfied and you will no longer owe them anything.
JOEY
20, 30 years?
VETTE
Hey. That’s the game you have to play wit grownups, baby. But, mmmm, let’s see, sixty bucks a year for 30 years, just 18 hundred bucks and your college is paid for, dewd. But...
(cranks up car)
VETTE
...’never ever’ miss a payment or you betta’ believe duh guhment will screw you to the wall, baby, and come after you big time! Let’s hit it chicas.
44 EXT. CLUB PARKING LOT - NIGHT 44
Vette’s car peels out of the parking lot.
VETTE
Smokin’ n jokin’, baby!
ADDY
Happy 18th!
JOEY
Yolo!
45 EXT. VETTE ON ROAD IN HER NEW YELLOW 911 TURBO - DAY 45
Vette dancing in her seat driving fast down winding roads to pounding music.
46 INT. VETTE’S NEW PORSCHE 911 TURBO PICKS UP JOEY – DAY 46
JOEY
Holy crap, Vette.
Joey enters car. Vette peels out.
VETTE
Whaddya’ think?
JOEY
MAN! N i i i c e.
VETTE
Woke up this morning with you on my mind. Takin’ all I can get. I think what I want...do what I want.
JOEY
The confidence of youth. Digame mas.
VETTE
Feelings...hard to hide. If you could read my mind what a tale my
VETTE
thoughts would tell. I’ve been waiting sooo long.
JOEY
Midnite confessions?
VETTE
I’m not in love so don’t forget it. Just a little thing I’m going through. Nothing may ever be exactly as we want it to be so go easy, min.
JOEY
Too often life passes us buy while we’re making grand plans for it.
VETTE
Just because I pick you up don’t get me wrong and think you got it made.
JOEY
(Teases)
You can wait a long time for me.
VETTE
I love drivin’ dis chariot.
JOEY
You lucky dog.
47 INT. VETTE’S HOUSE - DAY 47
They hit Vette’s room, Joey sits on couch, Vette hits music, hands Joey game box.
VETTE
Here. Check this out. Be right back. Vette exits leaving Joey checking out game box. Toilet flushes. Vette re-enters room.
JOEY
Cool game. Mmm, let’s play.
Vette sits on couch, ignores the game, gets close to Joey looks deep into Joey’s eyes.
VETTE
We were children once playing with toys. If you had just seconds to breathe and granted one final wish, would you ask for something... like another chance? Well... it’ll happen. And that one second before you... go... isn’t a second at all... It stretches... f o r e v e r.
JOEY
Hmmm. Gotta catch up with you.
VETTE
If I gave you everything I own....and asked for nothing in return....would you... would you do the same for me?... as I would for you?
Before Joey can speak Vette puts her fingers to Joey’s lips to silence her.
VETTE
Or.......would you take me for a ride?......And strip me... of E V E R Y T H I N G ... including my
pride... Or spin it into something no one can destroy. Tell me if I’m comin’ on too strong.
Joey getting turned on.
JOEY
Nowhere I’d rather be.
VETTE
You never knew it but... I had eyes for you first time I met you and Addy at my locker. I have to ask you a question.
JOEY
(Whispers) Shoot.
VETTE
How does it feel to be one of the beautiful people? Now that you know who you are. How often have you been there? I’d really love to know. You do it so naturally.
JOEY
(Swallows) Wet...electric...lady...
(Sexy)
Have you ever.., been? I wanna show you.
VETTE
Go where you wanna go.
JOEY
I wanna show you different... emotions.
VETTE
And do all the things you want me to. Do what you wanna do... with whoever you wanna do.
JOEY
Time we took a ride... a m a g i c carpet ride.
VETTE
Mmmmm.....ride the serpent.
Female singing in background: Make love, make love, make love.
VETTE
Waited so long to make you... feel my arms around you.
JOEY
Close your eyes and I’ll close mine.
VETTE
And we’ll remember the things
we said today. Dreams... s w e e t dreams for you.
Vette and Joey engage in passionate kissing.
VETTE
I wanna know what gives a beautiful person like you... pleasure?
JOEY
Mmmm. When I first met you I fell in love with your beautiful eyes but... I couldn’t get close to, uhh...
VETTE
(Smirks)
...Ice-through veins?
JOEY
(Laughs)
The ice princess routine makes me feel like I’m nothing in your eyes, felt like giving up cuz my best ain’t good enough, but...
your looks... your mind, a TOTAL turn on. ’That’ gives me pleasure. Sooo unpredictable.
VETTE
Seduction.
(Shivers, gives long slow blink)
Vette always ’says’ she’s willing to share.
JOEY
No strings, Vee... ever. (whispers)
It’s the code.
Vette pauses sensing Joey wants to kiss her.
VETTE
Just ask.
Joey and Vette kiss passionately with some foreplay. Joey stops for a moment and, in silence, with his eyes asks Vette, "Are you ok with this?"
VETTE
I don’t care.
Kissing, heavy petting to passionate crescendo "whispering" in each other’s ears.
JOEY
I can’t resist.
VETTE
Lovers forever.
JOEY
A look in your eyes... more than a touch or word we say.
VETTE
A look says so much more...
JOEY
A look that time cannot erase.
VETTE
Better not.
JOEY
Mmmm. Takes my breath away.
They break the embrace and look silently into each other’s eyes.
VETTE
My days are bright but filled with heartache and pain. Sometimes
I’m scared... feel cold inside n’ cry... like a motherless child. Got nowhere to hide. Don’t know if I can face it again. Show me. Change this lonely life.
JOEY
Your lonely days are gone, chica. Someday when I’m lonely wishing you weren’t so far away,
I’ll be thinking of you and somehow you’ll know.
VETTE
Spent my time so foolishly... can’t help myself, need you to stay.
JOEY
You are here and so am I.....feels like the VERY first time.
VETTE
I’ve waited a lifetime and got this feeling you won’t be walkin’ out that door.
JOEY
Something I want you to do especially for me. Something everybody needs.
VETTE
The only time I feel alright is by your side but have that feeling if we were together all the time we’d never get anything done.
JOEY
Take the lover’s vow.
They seal the vow with a soft kiss. Joey gently touches Vette’s lips with his fingers.
JOEY
Be right back.
VETTE
Better. Don’t keep me hangin’.
Joey exits room heading toward bathroom and says as he’s going down hallway:
JOEY
Hey. Only a fool lives for tomorrow and then foolishly reaches back for today.
VETTE
Yeah. And today’s gone.
Both laugh.
There’s a knock at the front door. Vette jumps up to answer door she passes bathroom with door wide open and sound of Joey peeing like a racehorse, Vette glances in and sees Joey standing up at the toilet, pants unzipped in front and holding "it". This is the first time we learn that Joey is ’obviously’ male but Vette already knows and not surprised at all by what she sees.
VETTE
Better hurry up in there. (giggles)
We gotta get busy.
Joey, unmoved, does not hide, glances over shoulder, Vette pauses taking in view.
Vette reacts to the hot view, fans her face.
VETTE
Muy fuego.
Vette continues to front door, opens it finding Sebi standing there in wet swim suit.
VETTE
(Smiling playfully) What do you want?
SEBI
I need the keys to your 911. Just for a minute.
EXT. VETTE’S APARTMENT - DAY
Vette exits doorway, heads inside, Sebi waits patiently, Vette reappears with keys.
VETTE
(Laughs)
Don’t you dare scratch that car.
SEBI
No worry. Only the best for the best.
Sebi turns to walk away and speaks over his shoulder.
SEBI
Have fun.
VETTE
On second thought... I need you for a minute.
SEBI
Whuddya’ need?
VETTE
You’ll see.
Sebi without hesitation stops then innocently disappears inside Vette’s house.
Vette looks right into camera as a slight smile creeps across her face and she closes the door in camera’s face.
MUSIC UP: Ella Fitzgerald’s "Bye Bye Blackbird"
SONG (V.O.)
"Pack up all my care and woe. Here I go. Singing low. Bye bye blackbird. Where somebody waits for me, sugar’s sweet, so is he. Bye bye blackbird. No one here can love or understand me. Oh, what hard luck stories they all hand me. Make my bed and light the light, I’ll be home late tonight. Blackbird bye bye."
